The layered textural marks on Roman walls hold the colours and shapes of centuries of living. The Romans named the district west of the Tiber, "Trastevere" meaning, "beyond the Tiber". Images I shot on neighbourhood walks in Trastevere of light dappled surfaces on worn and peeling stucco inspired this design.

TRASTEVERE

Rome, The "Eternal City" continues to be an inspiration. One of the great fonts of art, history and politics it has left an indelible mark on Western culture.

Textures of Trastevere were combined to form this carpet. TRASTEVERE was created for the the white oak panelled dining room of the Garfield residence project by SOMA Studio.
